A creative business mom: Tylynn Ngyen

Designer, model, and mother of three, TyLynn Nguyen and her husband, Bee, lead a creativity-centered lifestyle in Calabasas, California that revolves around their kids and work while mindfully incorporating simple, beautiful design and sustainable practices. TyLynn embraces a modern aesthetic that enables her to move comfortably through a busy day. That’s where Rothy’s helps her hit the ground running: stylish, comfortable, versatile shoes knit from recycled water bottles for a lighter environmental footprint—while staying heavy on style. Here she takes us through her day and explains how Rothy’s helps get her where she needs to go. She tells about her background including her surname pronunciation TyLynn Nguyen (pronounced ‘win’).

She grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. Her dad is Black and Native-American, and her mom’s family immigrated from Germany—she has Dutch, Swiss, and German heritage. Her husband is Vietnamese-American. Together they have three children, so they are just a melting pot of love that she hopes to spread to the world. She is a designer—she also had a lingerie brand under her name, but she closed it down during the pandemic because she was mothering children with a school that was on Zoom. she just didn’t have the capacity to execute the way she needed to, so she chose her family over her business and she is all very proud of her decisions. When the next idea arrives, she’ll start something else, but for now she is a content creator and model. She’s been a model since she was 17. The content portion of her business started three years ago when she did her first paid partnership with a beauty brand. She loves working creatively with brands that align with her worldview: simple and good for the planet.

Her  husband started off in music and moved into marketing so that’s what he still does. He’s always been a creative person who helps people with their brand strategies. He helped her figure out what her brand was before she started working in content creation. Her typical life is all about waking up in the morning to take care of herself first: she gets her coffee and focuses on hygiene like brushing her teeth and showering. Then she wakes up her children, makes them breakfast, and drives them to school. Her husband helps by getting all of their stuff ready. After dropping them off, she usually works on content. For example, she will schedule her photographer to meet at certain times so she can shoot and then have business meetings. Sometimes it’s about interior design stuff because she is trying to figure out what she wants to do with her new house and that whole vision which is awesome and exciting.
