Cara Delevingne: Fashion Icon of Our Generation

Cara Delevingne is the fashion icon of her generation and a multitalented personality who also shines as an actress, businesswoman, singer, and musician. The actress-turned-model first shocked the fashion world with her debut runway performance for Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. Cara Jocelyn Delevingne, an actress and model, was born on August 12, 1992, in London, England. She comes from an affluent family and has two sisters. Although she was born in the Hammersmith neighbourhood, she spent her early years in Belgravia, one of the most affluent areas in both England and the rest of the world. The Francis Holland School for Girls, which is located in London, provided her with her schooling.


Cara Delevingne has made headlines in the television and film industries in addition to being one of the most demanded models in the business and appearing on numerous international Vogue covers. Cara Delevingne first started modelling at the age of 10, appearing in an editorial for Vogue Italia and in campaigns for Cadbury chocolate in Britain. From starting out in modelling as a way to pass the time  to becoming one of the highest-paid models in the world, Cara had a long journey.The British model later went on to work with some of the top fashion companies in the world, including Chanel and Dior, gaining a huge fan base and press coverage beyond the fashion industry.

The 27-year-old model has amassed about 10 million Twitter followers and over 44 million Instagram followers, which has allowed her to establish a strong commercial brand for herself. Just like any other celebrity with such a huge following would do, Cara too took advantage of the situation and decided to capitalise it. Delevingne launched Cara&Co as her company name and registered a trademark for her name in February 2013.

Cara’s exceptional beauty and uniqueness have earned her the title of  model of the year at the British Fashion Awards in 2012 and 2014. Cara Delevingne’s foray into the world of film began in 2012 when she played the role of Princess Sorokina in the Anna Karenina film. Her first leading role came in the Hollywood adaptation of John Green’s novel “Paper Towns.” In April 2015, Delevingne announced she would be quitting modelling to focus on films. She then appeared with Ben Affleck and Margot Robbie in the hugely successful “Suicide Squad.” Cara was featured in the list of one of the most influential London Women in the year 2012 by Evening Standard Newspaper in UK.

In an exclusive interview with Bazaar, Cara revealed that, she was inspired to start her career in music because as a child she was a big fan of Avril Lavigne and she always wanted to dress like her. Cara also talks about her mental health struggles and how it all started when she had to drop out because was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety at the age of 17. Miss Delevinge never fails to educate her fans about mental health issues and awareness through her social media. 

Cara has really proved that no matter how difficult the situation around gets, there is always a way out and when you find that way, you should help other people come out of it too.
