Everything about our Singaporean-British Diva: Saffron Sharpe

Saffron Sharpe was born on 7 February in the year 1997. She is a YouTuber and influencer from Singapore. She first started to gain popularity when she served as one of the four hosts of the YouTube talk show Real Talk by Millennials of Singapore between 2018 and 2019. Saffron was born in Hong Kong to a Chinese mother and a British-Caucasian father. Saffron disclosed on a talk show that her mother Serene Chiu had been raising her ever since her parents split up when she was one and a half years old.

Saffron enrolled in the Humanities course at Catholic Junior College in 2014, where she also served as a student counsellor.  She earned accolades for her exceptional “A” Level marks on the college website after she graduated in 2015. Later, she enrolled in Singapore Management University, where she spent a year studying business. Saffron revealed in a “2018 recap” vlog on her YouTube channel that she hesitated and had some doubts before quitting, taking a break, and moving to a different university in London. Finally following her heart, she relocated to London, enrolled at Goldsmiths University, and chose to major in media and communications.

The majority of Saffron’s initial YouTube videos in 2014 and 2015 centred on travel and beauty-related topics. In 2016, she began posting frequently and increased the variety of content on her channel by adding workout routines, look books, makeup and beauty tips, and personal vlogs. As soon as she began to garner recognition, her YouTube channel grew at the rate of a forest fire, amassing 41.5k subscribers as of 2022.

Along with co-stars Jade Rasif, Johnathan Chua, and Dew, Saffron appeared as one of the hosts for the famous YouTube series Real Talk. Uncensored and openly discussed topics like smoking and unwanted pregnancies were discussed on this show.  The four hosts of the show discussed these topics while offering their experiences and opinions from their own lives. At this point, Saffron began to win people over with her strong beliefs and the manner in which she expressed her opinions. After 31 episodes, Saffron departed the program to pursue her studies and focus on her career.

Thanks to her devoted fan base and creative online persona, Saffron has collaborated with brands like L’Oreal, Grab, Uniqlo, Dove, Biore, Adidas, CheapTickets, Zalora, and AirAsia. She was one of three Singaporean YouTubers who were invited to Fiji in 2017 as part of a project with Fiji Tourism. In 2018, CheapTickets brought her to Cebu, Philippines, to record a travel vlog for the company. The video has received over 26,000 views on YouTube as of 2021. The majority of the content of Saffron concentrates on fashion and travel.

In the year 2020, Saffron made her first foray into entrepreneurship and business when she launched Shopsaffy, an online store. The shop specialises in selling phone covers, t-shirts, and crop tops with personalised designs. Thanks to her perseverance and work ethic, Saffron has accomplished for herself what most people only manage over the course of a lifetime. She also created an empire at such a young age. Saffron is undoubtedly one of our generation’s most popular and growing influencers, yet her career has just begun. She undeniably has a long way to go.
