Fazza ( Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum) ~ The Crown Prince Of Dubai

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (born 14 November 1982) has been Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008. He formerly served as Deputy Ruler of Dubai from 2006 to 2008. He has been popularly known as Fazza the name beneath which he publishes his poetry, which means “the one who helps & supports” in Arabic. He is a well-known equestrian, Maktoum is a multiple world champion at the World Equestrian Games. The qualities which he possesses are rightfully phenomenal with great leadership characteristics flavored with the traits of modesty, simplicity, and benevolence. He believes in meeting people without any restrictions or barriers. His works are commendable and lean toward helping people to solve their problems and follow up on their matters. He always keeps available to the people’s joy & sorrow, in spite of a load of responsibilities. Sheikh Hamdan has been influenced by several factors that have molded his character and crystallized his vision. The military lifestyle in Sandhurst taught him discipline and punctuality. About this experience, he stated: “What you learn in prominent military academies like Sandhurst spins around the values of discipline, responsibility, and commitment. These values are practically essential to carry out your responsibilities competently.”

Fazza’s Early life and education

Hamdan bin Mohammed is the son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the senior wife of Mohammed. He is the second son of their 12 children and the fourth of his father’s children. Hamdan’s elder full brother was Sheikh Rashid bin, Mohammed.

Hamdan bin Mohammed took his early education in Dubai at the Rashid School For Boys and then at the Dubai School of Government. He continued his studies in the United Kingdom, where he graduated from Sandhurst in 2001; he later went to the London School of Economics. 

Fazza’s Personal Life

Hamdan Al Maktoum is an authorized equestrian, skydiver, and scuba diver. He dives into Fujairah. He is also well recognized for his romantic and patriotic poems in Arabic. He publicizes his poems under the pen name of Fazza (فزاع). He rides for Godolphin Stables and he has also attended the Royal Ascot.

Sheikh Hamdan won a gold medal at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in the year 2014 in Normandy (FRA), team gold in 2012, and a bronze medal in 2010. He also led a team of five UAE riders at the Championships in Samorín on 17 September 2016.

On 15 May 2019, Hamdan wedded his cousin, Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum. On that particular day itself, his brothers, Maktoum and Ahmad, also got married too. On 6 June 2019, he and his brothers glorified the royal weddings at the Dubai World Trade Center. On 21 May 2021, it was affirmed that Sheikh Hamdan had welcomed twins, a son named Rashid and a daughter named Shaikha.
