Bonnie Loo’s Road to becoming a musician was not easy.

She began taking private singing lessons at age ten and has competed in numerous singing competitions throughout the Asia Pacific region since six. Her family moved to Singapore when she was 12 years old for her higher education and her father’s job. She graduated from Riverside Secondary School with a Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level.

Bonnie Loo rose to prominence in 2013 after competing in and winning the fourth season of Campus SuperStar, one of Singapore’s Chinese singing competitions. Her victory should have been no surprise to anyone watching the TV contest finale, as the Secondary five student received the night’s two highest scores. Her victory made series history as the first female winner since the show’s inception in 2006. Her grand prize included a two-year Mediacorp management contract, $5,000 cash, and the opportunity to perform in Glass Anatomy the Musical with Taiwan-based singer Ding Dang.

Bonnie worked hard to prepare for this competition and is constantly singing at home. Singing has always been her dream since she was a child. Bonnie is having difficulty deciding what she should prioritize because she will take her O-level exams and must concentrate on her studies. Nonetheless, she wishes to pursue her musical ambitions. She told herself that making music would have to wait until after her O-Levels. First and probably most important, studies, then pop stardom. That appears to be the motto of this year’s Campus Superstar winner, Bonnie Loo, who recently signed a recording contract with one of Asia’s most influential music labels. Bonnie is humble and gifted, so the S2S family is overjoyed to welcome her.

While the MediaCorp artist expressed excitement about the opportunity to record her album, the Singapore-based, Malaysian-born singer still has one more hurdle to overcome before she can focus on her music career: her O-Level exams. The O-Levels are stressful because Bonnie’s English is not very good, and almost all the subjects are in English. That’s why she needs more time to prepare for the exams. Loo said she plans to take a break from her studies after the exams to focus on her music. But she also wants to take some English classes to improve her English. Or she is even singing courses or dancing. While Loo has high hopes for her music career, she still stressed the need for young aspiring singers, especially those still in school, to not deviate from their educational duties.

Besides Bonnie Loo‘s daily routine as an artist and being busy shooting dramas, she also needs to take time to take good photos and update social media platforms. Now everyone’s aesthetic perception is getting higher and higher. She also needs to get closer. There are still a lot of unfinished things every day. She needs to train her own life. Give time to herself by taking care and relaxing, and also time to eat and sleep. Maybe that is the reason why she has no relationships.

She is the girl who can’t stop and is always busy, but she tries her best to slow down a bit, making herself better even with little progress. Bonnie Loo wants to record all the likes and good times to capture that being alive makes her happy. After all, it lets us experience and enjoys.
