After Sajal Aly changed her identity on Instagram, there were rumors that the pair had broken up.

Mir planned to go to Toronto but opted to return to Pakistan to work in movies and television instead. Along with Sajal Aly and Hira Mani, Mir played Dr. Asfand Yaar, a grieving brother, in Yaqeen Ka Safar after beginning to audition for Hum TV’s production company, MD Productions. Then, he played a supporting role alongside Mawra Hocane in the social drama Sammi. In addition to winning three Hum Awards, including the Hum Award for Best Actor, his performance garnered him the Lux Style Award for Best Actor. Ahad was accused of nepotism because he came from a well-known filmmaking family. In response to these allegations, Mir said he wants “people to take him extremely seriously as an actor and that he is here to stay.”

In the eleventh season of Coke Studio, Mir made his debut as a featured artist, singing “Ko Ko Korina” with Momina Mustehsan. Their performance of the well-known song received harsh criticism. The music show’s most loathed video in history was made within a few days after the video’s publication on YouTube. The military drama Parwaaz Hay Junoon, directed by Haseeb Hassan and co-starring Hamza Ali Abbasi and Hania Amir, was released on Eid al-Adha in the same year that Mir made his acting debut. As Flight Lieutenant Saad, Mir took over for Osman Khalid Butt, who chose to withdraw due to other obligations. In the Mohammed Ehteshamuddin-directed historical drama Aangan on Hum TV, Mir reconnected with Sajal Aly and Mawra Hocane in the role of poet Jameel.

Mir was one of the first South Asian actors to play the role professionally in Canada when The Shakespeare Company, in collaboration with Vertigo Theatre, hired him to play Hamlet in their production. He was given the Betty Mitchell Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama for his performance. Mir was appointed executive producer of the upcoming film Kalasha, which centers on the traditions of the Chitral Valley’s Kalash population.
