Lil Halima And Her Distinct Singing Style

Lil Halima is a professional musician from Norway. She is a singer and songwriter hailing from the genre of R&B and Soul. Her full name is “Lillian Halima Anderssen” and “Lil Halima” is mainly her stage name. She is of Kenyan origin as her father was from Kenya and moved to Bardu back in 1995. He was also fond of music and as Halima mentioned when he moved from Kenya to Bardu, he had with him a bag full of Kenyan and American hip-hop music CDs. And it was the influence of the music that his father used to listen to, which exposed her to the dynamic field of music and she picked up her own music type, the one she liked the most and which inspired her the most.

She started singing at an early age and by the time she was 19, she was already quite known for her singing skills in her local community. They all knew her talent from singing & songwriting to having knowledge of most of the musical instruments such as piano and violin. Later she also learned and perfected all the technical skills needed for recording a song. She learned all the basics from learning how to record her song and all the intricate things involved in it. Like keeping the microphone at the perfect distance, and how to perform with certain microphones. She also learned production skills, which involve EQ, Compression, Reverb, Echo, etc, and eventually, with constant practice she was finally a professional at mixing and mastering.

It is true what they say, “A real talent never goes unnoticed”, although in some cases it does, haha. But for the most part, it’s true, when you are really skilled at something, definitely someone will notice that in you, and if the stars are aligned for you, you’d excel in that particular thing and build your career in the same field. This happened with Halima as “Def Jam Norway”, who discovered her short videos, in which she was playing instruments and singing. She had recorded those using her phone and posted those songs and covers on her social media handle.

After listening to those they contacted her and soon she did her first professional recording of a song, which became her debut song. It was named “Abstract”, packed with powerful vocals and hardcore drums with pleasant melodies. The production part of the song is highly similar to the production of some big musicians like “Travis Scott”, especially the last part, the outro of the song. Well, I truly loved her song, to be honest, her style is quite experimental. I can simply describe her style as a mixture of three singers “Travis Scott”, “Billie Eilish”, and “Mogli”. It was really good to discover her music, she is really very talented and definitely deserves so much more love and appreciation for her amazing gift to music.
