Rising Gradually and Steadily: Ya Hui

Ya Hui is a television actress who has won multiple awards. Before she was crowned the winner of the Miss Telegenic Award at Star Search 2007, Ya Hui was one of the contest favorites in Mediacorp’s talent scouting competition.

Since she was a small girl, Ya Hui has had a strong interest in the performing arts. Because of her passion for dance, she was a member of the dance team from the time she was in primary school until she was in junior college. In addition, Ya Hui participated in a significant amount of the volunteer work that her schools arranged. She demonstrated a love for service and the tenacity to bear physical discomfort and manual labor while working on the Overseas Community Involvement Programme in Yunnan, China. It was one of the critical initiatives, and she participated in it.

In 2012, Ya Hui hosted a show called “Mat Yoyo” for the first time, and her youthful viewers responded well to her performance. She participated in a long-form drama in 2014, playing the wanton mee vendor role, and viewers welcomed her very well. As a result of this significant accomplishment, she was given one of the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste Awards at the Star Awards in 2014.

Since 2017, Ya Hui has held the Singapore Red Cross Ambassador position. She is a firm believer in giving back to the community and has been doing so by actively supporting local charitable groups. In 2018, Ya Hui put her skills in the kitchen to good use by preparing more than 200 servings of wanton mee for a charity event, which resulted in a donation of more than three thousand dollars.

The actress takes pride in maintaining an authentic and clean image, free from the complexities of rumors and gossip, which has further contributed to the relatability of her character as a straightforward girl next door.
Because Ya Hui is so honest and forthright, she confessed that it took her some time to adjust to the world of politics after she entered the entertainment industry. On the other hand, Ya Hui revealed that she would not change who she is or stop being honest, even if this means she will get the reputation of being unpopular and will have few friends as a result.

When she was still in secondary school, local actress Ya Hui dreamed of joining the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), even though it is unusual to hear women in Singapore discussing the possibility of entering the military.
Ya Hui believed being the only girl in an army camp would be an exciting and enjoyable experience.

After concluding that life in the military could be too difficult for her, she ultimately decided to pursue a career in acting instead.
Later, Ya Hui concluded that she wanted to project an image of femininity on screen.
Even though she will never serve in the army in real life, Ya Hui seemed to enjoy playing an army soldier on television. She not only played a solid and authoritative character on the show but also relished donning the uniform each day while working on the set.
