Salt and Light: The journey of Salem King

Salem King is a content creator, who found out after his  12 months in the University that he made a huge mistake reading Economics. He started playing around with his smartphone, creating short videos and sharing them online. Gradually, a network was created around his content and he quit his job and relocated to Lagos to emerge as a full-time content creator.

You can also know Salem King as that bubbly Instagram guy with characteristic monochrome videos allotting suggestions and motivation. Since 2018, Salem has been inspiring a new era of digital natives by means of continuously sharing lessons from his adventure as a content creator. Four years down the road he has inspired a huge community through exceptional structures.

Salem King became an influencer by accident, he just did what he loves doing best, and his career kicked off. When he was asked to work through his typical work day in the life in an interview by “Techpoint.Africa” Salem stated that” I don’t have a typical day but one thing that is present in a lot of my days is that I start with a very long walk in the morning. It helps me because a lot of times I need to distract myself to focus. I need to just let myself take in the sights and sounds, and it just somehow gets my juices flowing. While I’m taking my walk in the morning, I am mentally organizing my day, going over everything I have to do. I also do some writing while I’m walking. I always take a walk with my phone and some ideas just hit me and I always write them down. A lot of those ideas have gone ahead to be some of my most successful content ideas” wow this is really a hot tea for aspiring or already made content creators who would love to be successful in their content creation field.  majority of his target audience is between the age of 18-35. Now the humans within this age bracket in Nigeria in general have equal kinds of troubles.

They’re out of school and unemployed however they’ve innovative hobbies that their households don’t support because it’s not in engineering, law, or medicine. He uses his platform to speak about these subjects and the tension that surrounds being in those shoes in a relatable, educative, and enjoyable manner. The excellent element is that his advice comes from the perspective of a person who’s going through it too.  His favorite fashion trick is the same pair of blue jeans with a different shirt every day, he feels sexy when he’s wearing Shorts. The next item on his wish list is a Converse All-Stars (Chuck Taylors), a fashion rule he will always live by is “always wear perfume”.

According to him the most stylish woman he has ever seen is Zendaya Maree, Stoermer Coleman. He keeps a black-and-white profile on Instagram.
