The fears of the present are her true calling: Kate Pang

Kate Pang is a former actress and television host from Singapore and Taiwan. She was a Mediacorp artist full-time until 2017, but she continues to film intermittently. Pang left MediaCorp to pursue a career as a full-time artist. She changed her name legally to Kate Pang Lei Xin.

Pang began her career as a model in Taiwan before moving on to acting. MediaCorp hired her after being impressed during her audition. She has put her career on hold since giving birth to her son in 2014.

Pang is married to her co-star from Joys of Life and Break Free, Andie Chen. They married after secretly dating after meeting on the set of Joy of Life. They have a son named Aden, whom they welcomed in 2014. Then, the following year, something unfortunate happened to Pang; they were expecting their second child, but Pang suffered a miscarriage. However, following their greatest heartbreak the next year, the couple gave birth to their daughter Avery.

Every parent’s worst nightmare is the loss of a child. But Pang and her husband never give up hope. Their marriage has many flaws, but they always choose to stand firm. Not only for the sake of their children but also because of their intense love for one another.

Kate Pang did not believe in marriage or commitment before meeting her husband. Kate Pang had no intention of getting married. She didn’t find her husband even remotely likable when they first met.

Kate had a difficult childhood. She, unlike her husband, never had a clear goal. Kate stated that she never accomplished anything in her youth.

She had a strained relationship with her family and was raised by her grandmother after her parents divorced when she was two years old.

Her father remarried around the time Kate finished high school, and she hoped that the arrival of a “maternal figure” would finally provide her with a “complete family.”

That, however, never happened because her father went on to live a separate life with his new family, which excluded Kate and her sister.

Kate Pang then moved to Taipei to study. She learned to be self-sufficient while living in a low-cost rented flat with her cousin.

Kate claimed that her upbringing had made her emotionally closed off. She has difficulty reacting to emotional situations and does not know how to express herself when things become too heavy or sad for her.

Kate never considered marriage at the beginning of their relationship because she was afraid of getting divorced. She thought that promises of commitment were all nonsense.

She admitted that she was aware that her way of thinking was “unhealthy” and that it stemmed from her conception of what a family should be.

After meeting her husband’s family, Kate only realised what a “normal” family could be like.

Her husband gradually made her feel more secure in their relationship. Her husband would always tell her that marriage is a lifetime commitment and that she couldn’t keep thinking about divorce every time they fought.

Looking at former Mediacorp actress Kate Pang’s Instagram page now, one would never guess that Kate Pang used to be afraid of marriage and commitment.

She gave up her dream job as an actress to care for her son Aden and daughter Avery, who are now eight and six years old. And based on the numerous photos they’ve taken together; you’d think Kate’s calling has always been to be a stay-at-home mom.
