A Thai-Australian chef and businesswoman in the food industry, Marion Grasby<\/a> is also a food journalist, cookbook author, and television host. In Darwin, Northern Territory. She was born. She relocated to Papua New Guinea with her family when she was four years old, where she attended primary school. Later, she relocated to Brisbane and stayed at Somerville House. On her mother’s side, she is Thai, and on her father’s, she is Australian. Grasby<\/a> attributes her innate love of cooking to her mother, Noi, a Thai chef with formal training who had an influence on her.<\/span><\/p>\n

After high school, Grasby<\/a> attended the Queensland University of Technology to study journalism and law, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. After graduating from college, Grasby<\/a> worked as a journalist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Adelaide, South Australia. Grasby worked as an ABC correspondent. She submitted news articles to a variety of radio and online outlets, such as ABC Rural and The World Today AM. Additionally, she was a producer for Stateline. In 2012, Grasby made appearances on Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice and MasterChef All-Stars. To encourage individuals to aim high and fulfill their aspirations, Grasby was selected as a campaign ambassador for American Express Australia’s “Realize Your Potential in 2013” initiative.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For her brand, Marion’s Kitchen, Grasby<\/a> is currently situated in Noosa, Queensland, where she creates and records food and lifestyle content. Following her time on MasterChef, Grasby<\/a> founded Marion’s Kitchen. This food company produces a variety of meal packages, including Pad Thai, San Choy Bow, and Thai curries, as well as stir-fry sauces, marinades, and salad dressings. Before transitioning to a US direct-to-consumer subscription service called Marion’s Kitchen All Access USA in 2019, Marion’s Kitchen products were first sold in US supermarkets. <\/span>In order to produce culinary and lifestyle videos for the Marion’s Kitchen and Marion Grasby<\/a> social media channels, Marion’s Kitchen opened a studio in Bangkok, Thailand, in the early months of 2017. In Noosa, Australia, a second filming studio opened in 2020.\u00a0<\/span>Grasby<\/a> took a detour from her Masters of Arts in Gastronomy program in 2010 to participate in the second season of MasterChef Australia on television.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was the series’ favorite among viewers. Highlights from the season include Grasby<\/a> defeating Movida’s Frank Camorra in a celebrity chef competition and being hailed by Heston Blumenthal as the top performer in a UK MasterChef challenge, which she cited as her biggest culinary accomplishment. In the end, Grasby was disqualified from the contest. Grasby quit MasterChef when it ended. After quitting MasterChef, Grasby<\/a> received offers to write, present, and cook. A contract was offered to her by Masterchef Magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Foxtel’s Lifestyle Food channel premiered Marion’s Thailand, a Grasby<\/a> television series, in 2013. The 10-part series, which focused on real Thai cuisine, was filmed on location in and around Marion’s traditional family house in Thailand. A three-part series called Wok vs. Pot premiered on SBS in August 2020. A “delightful new series that brings to mind that classic, The Cook and the Chef,” was praised. Each episode showed chefs Silvia Colloca and Jonathan Grasby<\/a> preparing a dish in their own styles; Colloca prepared her classic Italian dishes in a pot, while Grasby used a wok.<\/span><\/p>\n
