Some dishes certainly have their own distinctive look and they also bring along with them stories which are reminiscent of one's culture, tradition and quite a many times- necessity. Story alert !!! The dish above- "Bunny chow" has its origin from South Africa and It was created at the time of apartheid but it is known to be a creative solution for the indentured Indian labourers, who were brought to work in sugarcane fields. The bread, while not as ideal as roti, became an accepted accompaniment to eat the curry with. The word ‘bunny’ comes from ‘bania’, the caste of the Indian businessmen who sold the curry, while ‘chow’ is, of course, slang for ‘food’. There are a lot other stories for the same, but the Crux is The dish arised because of the lack of no take-away containers... Rightly said "Neccessity Is The Mother Of Invention" and we Indians have never failed to surprise the world :)
