Some dishes certainly have their own distinctive look and they also bring along with them stories which are reminiscent of one's culture, tradition and quite a many times- necessity. Story alert !!! The dish above- "Bunny chow" has its origin from South Africa and It was created at the time of apartheid but it is known to be a creative solution for the indentured Indian labourers, who were brought to work in sugarcane fields. Because of laws which prohibited black Indians from entering the restaurants and the normal flat roti that would fall apart ( Roti n beans were the popular dish at that time ), The proprietors began using loaves of bread as take-out containers, scooping them out and filling them with the bean curry. The bread, while not as ideal as roti, became an accepted accompaniment to eat the curry with. The word ‘bunny’ comes from ‘bania’, the caste of the Indian businessmen who sold the curry, while ‘chow’ is, of course, slang for ‘food’. There are a lot other stories for the same, but the Crux is The dish arised because of the lack of no take-away containers... Rightly said "Neccessity Is The Mother Of Invention" and we Indians have never failed to surprise the world :)

Throwback to my street food spree at Ghatkopar's khau galli!? Ek toh hum chatore upar se vegetarian aise Mei ghatkopar khau gali nahi gye toh Kya hi Kia humne mumbai Mei :p So the foodie in me drove 7 stations away from Thane to Ghatkopar's Khau Galli which is a complete Vegetarian Street Food Lane. It was really a pleasant sight to see family & friends spending quality time strolling, chatting and munching food. ?? There were so many innovative and lip smacking options to choose from that I simply ended up stuffing myself with almost all the dishes I could have my hands on!?? (and later also walked extra miles to settle my tummy ?) Khichiya Papad, Cheese on fire, Roller coaster icecream, Sai Swad's Manchurian pasta Dosa, Jinni dosa, Stuffed garlic bread which is on my hands or the show stopper dessert which will come next on my posts, The List of Must Try is really long here!! ? All I can sum up is that if you happen to be around here, you're sure to get an experience of innovation, fusion and Desi style food all at once! ?♥️?

???? ????? ??

Bhopali, Indori and Ratlamis can get the emotions of this dish very well no? This is something whose main ingredient's reach is even higher than my posts? It's the very special and famous dhaba style sev ki sabji. Talking about the key ingredient that is sev, is made from chickpea or gram flour which is typically seasoned with turmeric and ajwain (carom seeds) before getting deep-fried. Not just being the most consumed Namkeen, Sev has also made its presence across so many snacks and street food of bhopal Be it bhelpuri, dabeli, poha, Raj kachori or in lunch alongside any sabji . And this versatility doesn't just get over with spicy or as bland food accompaniment but it is used in sweets as well !! (Have you tried sev ke laddoo?) and this also brings me to the conclusion that we people simply can't do without 'SEV'. Since the time I shifted from lucknow to Bhopal- Sev, Poha and daal bafle were the welcoming dishes that Bhopal offered and now they are so well inculcated that sev especially has become a daily nibbling necessity.
