In today’s world of Lock-downs and Quarantines, we find ourselves having an excess of free time. It gives us an opportunity to retrospect on ourselves, and really boosts up productivity as a whole. In the same light, I was encouraged to go on and start up my very own blog with my family – The Flavors Of Heaven. Although I am still just in the beginning phase of such a blog, it really helps me strengthen my family bonds as well as remain with a productive job to complete. It was a Friday morning in Dubai, and I was just lazing around my house. It then struck me that in the free time that I kept wasting, I could achieve something that no one in my family line had ever done. With my mom’s great passion for cooking and my brother’s love for computers, it was a no-brainer. I started out with just an Instagram page but over time, it changed from an Instagram page to an entire fully-fledged blog. My whole family pitches in as well. After all, the more. After all, the more the merrier! My mom and brother really helped give me a push. At first, I was not used to such a lifestyle wherein I spend lots of time writing captions and other such things. After getting used to it for quite some time, it has turned out to be quite beneficial to me. I gain experience everyday and hope that one day, my blog will raise me up! Yours Truly, Calida Ashel

MY JOURNEY LEARNING THE ART OF COOKING As a child, my grandmother was one person who influenced me a lot. She raised and, in many senses, taught me skills that would be useful for life. One such skill was the art of cooking. My grandmother had a wonderful style of cooking. She used traditional Indian methods of cooking and enhanced her dishes by combining different elements of taste. Whenever I returned home from school, the aroma of her food used to instantly fill the house. As I turned 16, my grandmother had made it her aim to pass on her legacy to me. At first, I used to watch her cooking from a distance but as time passed by, I started to get more involved in the action. Slowly, I started understanding the concepts of cooking. Months passed by and as I turned 17, I had become a great cook (As per my grandma At least). Now, I’m a married woman, with 3 children standing by me. I opened this blog with the aim of my mind being that I could pass on my grandmother’s as well as my own tasty recipes and make them known far and wide. I hope I achieve this aim in the future.
