Read MoreHow to introduce yourself? There are countless times when you are asked to tell about yourself, maybe when joining a new school or entering a college or in an interview. At those moments you have to be professional and using informal language is definitely not advised. But are those the only places that you have to make an appearance and tell about yourselves? No, right? When in family gatherings, or a get together with old and new mates or a casual party, they ask for the same questions sometimes. Gone are those days when only your marks would work everything for you. This day and age asks for more and for being creative. So if you are thinking that maybe telling them your name, city, course, marks and job profile would be enough, maybe it’s a big no-no. So telling what makes you who you are, is one of the probable answers they may be looking for. Suppose you are asked by your lecturer to write about yourself creatively. With a peer of hundred, how would you stand out if not putting an extra effort? The very first line you write, makes a whole lot of difference and the person in charge already knows what to expect from your side. You could also use the same when you are entertaining your new friends in a casual meet. Here’s an example about how you can creatively tell who you really are. *************************************************************************** A bag full of clothes, my diary, a notebook, stationery, money, my camera and hand phone along with headphones, all these and I’m good to go. Am I a traveler? No, not really. I just love to explore the enriched history of different places and capture the moments in my diary while a few shots on my camera. The lifestyle of people attract me more than the snapchats they post. I’m striving hard every day to pen down my emotions but I still feel loss of words when it comes to talking to a lot of people, to be more accurate, it exhausts me and finding a lone place to recharge myself becomes my immediate need. My close mates are limited in number as it takes time to bond with me. They may describe me as the one wracking a havoc while others may say I am shy. It’s just my level of comfort that changes my behavior. I’m the type you may often find in a garden talking to flowers and animals and think I’m mad. I like solitude and avoid unnecessary interactions with people. Maybe when I’m writing it in this way, I’m not being professional like talking about my degree in BCA and zero knowledge of programming and my current occupation being an MBA student while my heart dwells on writing. But according to me that’s one aspect of me and not all of me. I am being frank and not professional because that’s what my resume is going to do. ****************************************************************************** This was only an example where I wrote about myself. You can write one of your own which tells the other person more about yourself than what you wrote in your resume or CV. The more creative you are with your words, the more one gets attracted to what you have got to say and keeping your audience interested is what makes a difference. Dos: Be concise, simple and clear. Keep a track of the topic you have already talked about. Repeating the same topic may leave a not-so-good impression. Try to avoid grammatical mistakes as much as possible. Don’ts: Don’t start with “Myself (Your name)” It is wrong way to introduce as it is grammatically incorrect but is commonly practiced. So avoid using it. Don’t stray away from your main motive that is to tell about yourself and not all of your life events. Don’t use any kind of abusive or violent words. Don’t go blank in between.
