#worldnotobaccoday ? #foodart (cigarette) made by all purpose flour In order to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco, World No Tobacco Day is observed on May 31 every year. World No Tobacco is observed every year with a different theme to keep up with a constant magnitude of change that the campaign requires over the years. “Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use” is the theme for World Tobacco Day 2020. Consumption of tobacco causes several diseases including cancer, tuberculosis, respiratory problems and cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), people who consume tobacco regularly are more vulnerable to the dreadful coronavirus. In a statement, the WHO has said that coronavirus primarily attacks lungs and smoking impairs lung function making it harder for the body to fight the dreadful infection and urged smokers take immediate steps to quit tobacco. “Tobacco is also a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease and diabetes which put people with these conditions at higher risk for developing severe illness when affected by COVID-19. Available research suggests that smokers are at higher risk of developing severe disease and death,” it has said. Meanwhile, a Chinese study published in February 2020 has claimed that 25 per cent of the 1,099 COVID-19 patients admitted at a hospital were smokers and claimed that tobacco users were getting severe respiratory symptoms due to the absence of cilia in their airway. Another research has claimed that coronavirus enters body by attaching itself to the ACE2 receptors, adding that smoking can increase the levels of ACE2 receptors in the body. However, a French study published by Pitié-Salpêtrière has claimed that smokers may be less prone to suffer to the highly contagious coronavirus. However, researchers believe that the theory needs to go through several trials. #notobaccoday #nosmoking #foodphotography #uzmaseasyrecipes
