The Indian Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year to honour the soldiers, airmen and sailors of India who fought on the borders to safeguard the country's honour. Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on 7th December every year in India, with an objective to collect the funds from people for the betterment of the Armed Forces staff just by selling Indian flags, batches, stickers and other items. Over the years, it has become a tradition to commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen of India. The three branched of the Armed Forces - the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy - organise a variety of programmes to showcase their efforts towards national security. The fund collected on the Flag Day is also used for the welfare of serving personnel and ex-servicemen and also to rehabilitate battle causalities. Read MoreVegetable Rice Appe Ingredients– 2 cup rice 1/2 cup urad dal 1 onion finely chopped 2 tbsp capsicum finely chopped 2 tbsp grated carrot 2 tbsp green peas 2 tbsp sweet corn 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/4 tsp cumin seeds 2 green chilies chopped 5-6 curry leaves 1 tbsp oil Salt to taste Oil for cooking Method– Wash & soak rice, urad dal in water for 4-5 hours. Drain & grind to a smooth paste with enough water. Cover & set aside overnight to ferment. Next day, heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilies and curry leaves. After mustard and cumin seeds crackle add this to the fermented batter. Add salt, little water if required , mix & form a thick batter. Now add all the chopped vegetables n mix well. Heat appe mould on a medium flame & grease it with a little oil. Pour a spoonful of batter in each appe mould. Cook till outer surface becomes golden brown & then turn each appe upside down using a fork & cook other side. Remove & repeat same with remaining batter.
